With the holiday season here, loved ones from all over the country will be making the trek home for their annual get-togethers!   "Coming home" can also mean a path to personal discovery.  The possibilities of coming home to ourselves, physically & spiritually.  This is a gift that we can discover & give ourselves.  A Michigan native, Stewart Francke, has an inspiring story of his love of music & his personal gifts.

Speaking of home, why not say, "Yes, to Michigan."    Michigan's had a rough go of it lately-to say the least.  Many have left the state due to necessity, and some have left simply to seek out greener pastures, but for those of us who remain, Michigan is the home we love!!!!

And what's not to love???  Surrounded by the largest bodies of fresh water in the world.  Michigan is unique.  We Michiganders have water everywhere we look.  I think, sometimes I take that for granted until I travel outside the state & find that being surrounded by water is not the norm.

Michigan is simply beautiful but what I love most about Michigan, moving here from Chicago, are the people.  Here in Saugatuck/Douglas, these 2 small towns discover the power of Networking through the people who live & work here. 

 I call it network weaving!! 

Saugatuck/Douglas has an amazing history & if you are looking to quench your thirst in artisans, this is the place to live!

Just getting together at the local coffee house, Uncommon Grounds, is a space where people from the communities come together & start cooking up stuff.  And they are cook up all sorts of things.  Everywhere is a field of potential here.  We must dream together to begin to see it. 

One outcome is a fabulous arts program for children at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, SCA.  Not only does the Center benefit the local communities but also, the SCA reaches out to neighboring communities as well.  Especially, those children less fortunate who can now enjoy the benefits of an art center through funding of grants & contributions & local citizens taking the time to network w/different people to help in making the Art Center grow.

All of us are network weavers:  To whom do you relate??? From whom do you get new ideas?  It enables us to find & spread new ideas. 

So, what will Michigan do about reinventing itself?  Will it be the home of Green Energy, or be the leading creators of automobiles for our 21st century & not of the past century, or have a bustling film industry! Waterfront Film Festival held every year in Saugatuck, second only to the Sundance Film Festival?
